Background

Clinical Services planning team inherited complex Excel spreadsheet with sparse documentation.

Team requested to expand service provided and improve speed of delivery.

Problem

Staff who built the original spreadsheet were no longer employed and current staff had difficulty interpreting Excel.

Issue

Team were under pressure to implement performance changes but were not keen on repeating earlier error in using Excel.
